Wot i got for my birthay

I took the advice of Capt. Laidler et al regarding the repro No32 scopes that Numrich are selling and saved my money, instead I saved every cent I could and put one of Lawrance Ordnance's genuine No32 Mk1 Kershaws on layby. For my recent birthday I was presented with the balance of payment by my very understanding better half. This week I hot footed up to the local post office to sign for my parcel and have to say I'm very satisfied with the contents. The scope was advertised as "IGWO, reticle intact but with cloudy lenses, would benefit from a good clean". The last part was very accurate! The occular and objective outer surfaces were filthy, after a clean with photographic lens cleaner and a new optical cloth the the resullt is nothing short of miraculous, clear as the proverbial bell.
I carefully fitted my new toy to my 'T' clone (thread; Here's one I made earlier) and took it to the range yesterday for a try out.
After some practice groups I got my final 5 shot group down to 3" at 100yds.
The clicks are free and positive but I'm not sure of the click values, would 1click equal 1 MOA or more?.
I'm hopeless at posting pics so if anybody is interested my scope is on the Lawrance Ordnance website Ser# 7455. They have 4 left if you are getting tired of getting outbid on E-bay.
Answers to the click value question would be appreciated.:thup:

Hope you enjoy the scope. They are a great bit of kit. Heavier than you would expect.

I purchased it's neighbour #2707 from Lawrance Ordnance.

The scope is currently being fitted to a No4 Mk1 by David Watson of Island Accuracy.

Hoping to end up with an accurate reproduction No4 [T] to use at the local range.

Still trying to justify sending the scope to Fultons for a full refurb.

On a MK.1, the Windage clicks are 2 MsOA and the Range clicks are aligned to the ballistics of the Mk.VII .303 round

Thanks for the info, I'll knock up one of Capt Laidler's lead screw tools and correctly zero the scope to my rifle, and then post a range report over the coming weekend. I may even post a picture of the target if photoposting doesn't mess with my head too much!!!:madsmile:

The key to zeroing a Mk.1 is to get the rifle held FIRMLY. Trying to hold it yourself or getting a mate to hold it while you adjust it just makes life too difficult. Clamp it down!

So here's a few piccys of my new scope compared to my weaver looky likey, on reflection I think the mock up resembles a mk3 more than a mk1 or mk2, still it kept me happy till I got the real thing. Now I can post pictures i'll start a few more threads, I've still got a few questions for the experts!:D

Elevation clicks are in 50 yard increments for your Mk.I scope.

Here's a bit of good news that you might not have thought about............. The Mk1 deflection grads. are in 2MoA's. So if you can find yourself a spare Mk2 deflection clicker plate you can take the Mk1 50 yard range clicker plate OFF and replace it with the spare 2MoA deflection clicker plate. This'll give you 2 MoA range clicks or 1 click = 2" at 100 yards.

But as the 2 MoA deflection notches only form 180 degrees of the plate, it's simplicity itself to mark out and continue them all the way round. Not a perfect solution but a good compromise. At the same time, keeping your scope 'original'. Well, certainly externally.

Firstly I made one of Capt Laidler's patent adjusting tools, then I made a lockring spanner on the benchgrinder from one of those pressed steel throw away spanners you always get from
IKEA or the like with flatpack tables etc. Many thanks Captain, they work brilliantly!
So, I took my "T"clone to the range to zero correctly with my shiny new tools and here are the results. P1 is 100yds off the bench, 0 deflection dialled in, range drum set to 1 (v.happy)
P2 is 300m off the bench wind right to left, 1 click left dialled in for deflection after a sighter, range drum set to 3.
Pretty happy with this as on a standard service rifle target they would all be in the 5 ring, the group could be tighter but I'm sure thats the nut behind the butt.
