The Norinco is a very fair likeness of a K98k as .22 trainer. Real original "Wehrsportgewehre" would cost you several times the price, and would probably not even shoot as well. In fact, I suspect our grandchildren are going to see Norincos with fake markings added to them, being sold as orginals.
OK, it shoots well at 25 yds. Now take it up to 50 yards, or even 100, and you will start to learn how to really use open sights.
Have fun!

That's an excellent little rifle. Have to see if we can get them over here.
Mausernut, that is downright excellent shooting with open sights. Could you please tell me the dimensions of the black? Does the 10 ring have a tiny circle in the middle for 10x? I ask, because it looks just like the targets used by CCF cadets back in ... well I won't say when ... and I would like to reproduce them and see how my No. 8s perform now. Or rather, see how I perform now - my No. 8s shoot one hole at 50 meters.

Nifty rifles! They did a long version and a short one too. I think the longer one may have had no provision for a scope, but the short one has a side rail and a short 4x scope. The one above might be different yet.
has a scope on it because my eyes aren't what they used to be. really does a number on gophers. all the way out to 75 yds.
i hear ya on that scope and the eyes ... many of mine now wear scopes that did not before - but they still get shot and the ones with irons not so much ,
congrats she looks a fine specimen ,

A couple of mates use these norincos in our club service rifle trainer matches, the real advantage being that they are magazine fed, we luddites still using LE no2 mk4's still manage to manage to uphold the reputation of the empire though! keep shooting and enjoying it, just try it out a little further though, as already posted a .22 at 100m is a challenge:)
the one time i tried it at 100 yds it shot a 1 inch 5 shot group.
the target dimensions are
center 10 - 8mm
9 ring - 20mm
8 ring - 35mm
7 ring - 45mm
6 ring -57mm
5 ring -70mm
