Hi everyone,
I have been rather silent and absent these past several months; this doesn't mean I've lost interest!
Anywho, here's what I have been working on during limited free time. It's a LEC (Lee Enfield Carbine), dated 1899, which belongs to a Canadian fellow called Gary.
It's not done yet, but I thought it's advanced enough to deserve a post. :) Here's a link to my post in the Restorer's Corner section:

I didn't count the hours on this one, maybe it's a good thing. Making the forend from scratch is what took me the most time. A great project!

Wow Lou, good job!!! It needs some character. Get a leather scabbard and a horse to ride before it gets too cold! Have you fired it yet?

Some dings in the timber, lots of oil stain, dirt and rust...... bloody nice job.

Lou, that is a thing of beauty. Immagine it is 1901 and you are Trooper Pou, freshly arrived at the barracks of Lord Strathcona's Horse. You go through the QM's getting all your brand new kit issued and your last port of call is the armoury to get your spanking new carbine. The armourer sergeant hands you something like this one. I'd certainly not turn round and say, "excuse me Sergeant, could I have one with a bit more character please?"
I know it'll take some patience, and none of us will live to see the end result, but let it acquire it's own character over the next 50 or even 100 years.
