This was a WWII field modification used when GI's brought their battle worn rifles back in to have a new CC re-stamped.
(Didn't you read it in George and his buddy's new book about carbines?) ;)

George???? Writing a book?????? You have o be kidding. He will list all the rare variation and odd letter coded parts that never existed, but he happens to have new old stock he got from a trusted source!
The stock is a new commercially made stock with counterfeit cartouches. At that price mine just went up :)

Stock pouch left on is always a clue of something wrong. Commerical stock, good catch and it is. but the wood is pretty.
