Talking About M1's And M2's, Here Are Some Stocks That Needed Attention

This is a potbelly M2 IO that is realy a nice stock. But, we've all seen this before. Someone who can't seem to get the sling around the oiler takes a knife, file, saw etc. And opens up the oiler slot.:nono: This one was opened up in the sling well as well.:thdown: I cut up a doner to get a grain matchup. It works perfectly now.:thup:

The thumbnails are an S-HB that was converted to M2 use. It also had some chips, and a carving, M over L and a 2 next to the M. Probably initials ML and the clever G.I. put the 2 next to his first initial, to denote the type of carbine he was issued.
Now it's ready to go back to use as a restored M1. My pics are out of order but I think you guys can figure them out.:cheers:.....Frank

Frank, I think you could repair Noah's Ark if you wanted to. I would never have the guts (let alone skill) to try some of the things you do. Have you thought about writing a book of how to's?

He was even able to match the wood grain on the one with the chips out on the right side. Very nice.

I haven't seen a repair he hasn't been able to do yet.
