New wood for my A3
So I received my "C" stock from the CMP :)
It is suppose to be a drop in fit, However it was far from it Should have sent it back :ugh:
Barrel channel not centered, muzzle end to large, action area to tight, rear action screw hole not drilled straight, butt stock to fat and has a divet.
So far I have about 10 hrs. of fitting into it.
I still need to put a finish on it.

They should have just sent you the blank and let you whittle it out from scratch.
I feel for you. You have a great deal of patience Hylander.

I thought the CMP site said the fixed the problem with poor fitting stocks? I'd call 'em. Maybe they sent you one of the older versions? If you keep it remember the wood will stand proud above the metal hardware a bit. As they got rebuilt they were sometimes sanded almost flush with the metal. Bubba will sand it nice and flush while "restoring" a stock with 30 grit sandpaper on a grinder. LOL! With the metal still mounted! LOL!

I just received one myself and am pleased. Mine was a drop-in as far as the receiver/barrel/trigger group were concerned. I had to enlarge the hole for the rear buttplate screw and remove a little wood to get the lower handguard ring to slide on. I would much rather remove wood than try and add it.
Sucks that you got a bad one. The barrel not being centered is waaay bad. I just wanted people to know that they do sell some nice ones. I hope you are the exception.

CMP are good people. I'm sure they'd make it right, unless you feel you're in to deep to quit. Those stocks are made by Boyd right?
