what a find!, you would suppose the soldier had been mothballed with it.
The chance of finding something like that in such pristine condition with all the serial numbers matching, it just blows your mind.

Interesting it's got the Ishy screw.
New, unfired! I think not. Reconditioned more likely. The transverse screw through the fore stock suggests a possible Indian connection.
It's PINK! Look at the action close-ups!
And the re-stamped markings on the action sidewall. Definitely didn't leave BSA like that.
Also the 1950's rear swivel assembly.
And the arched middle band, not likely.
The "S" and the "51" are different sizes- well, it's odd anyway...
What's VERY interesting is the scope. Nice! I have am "E" prefixed 1944 BSA that had scope #124 on it at one point, so it's likely that rifle and mine were fitted up at about the same time.
But US$7000+??? Heh! Not so much considering the evil things done to "improve" it...
BTW, it has the "X" in the right spot...
I always get a kick out of enterprising auction sellers. "New, unfired" from Indian service. Ho hum.
A dealer in the United Kingdom would not dare make such claims because it would be an offence under the Trades Descriptions Act to do so.
I often wonder if these sellers spout this guff from ignorance or are they just plain crooks.
That was a decent rifle until some idiot thought he had to restamp the markings in the body side.
Not even close to new, obviously.
Scope has been refurbed quite recently, and not in Inja that's for sure!
Bloody silly screw through the forend and the big Jahore Ordnance Depot stamp add insult to injury.
Anyone seen my bloody sniper rifle?
