1946 No5 MK1 Enfield

All,
I decided to post my No5 here, to let you look it over. I purchased this a fair number of years ago from a Dunhams... it is a CAI import. The barrel is marked:No5 Mk1 303 II King.
The wood has a different stain/ lacquer on the buttstock, compared to the forend. It also has some rust and pits from its former service... and of course, the "date" is not cool compared to WWII dated rifles..... So... without further introduction...

Rather light strike, but the SN matches the bolt and action...

Now look at the markings that say No5. These look hand scribed... but I am told that this is typical... and that it is a legit "Jungle Carbine". :help:
I am also told that the "two tone" finish on the "Jungle Carbine" is typical of carbines from the Asia area. :surrender:

Don't worry about the 'uncool' date on it. I find that something that just may have seen later service in some place such as say, Malaysia, is just as 'cool' as anything else. Very nice rifle.

Forgive me: Malaya. (There was no Malaysia back then.)

Yep, the British were having to deal with communists in Malaya and other places, so there is a possiblity this rifle saw action there. Very nice example. Would love to see a range report sometime :)

It definately won't have been one of ours. Stamping on the body side was taboo. Engrave, yes.........., stamp NO! The letter 'T' was allowed by previous agreement. The Malay Army Armourers were trained by us so they wouldn't do it either. It looks like the BH prefix has already been botched in a previous attempt!
