Can't tell about the first weapon but isn't the second one in a shotgun? Too short for an M1.
I say 97
They both look like shotguns. The second has some sort of bayonet attached.
They seem to be listening to the first Marine.
There is a carbine laying on a pack and the fifth Marine has a carbine with a grenade launcher mounted.....Frank
I'll buy the first one being a shotgun. It's short and heavy enough for it. I mean thick enough. That would be a 1917 bayonet on the second one of course. The carbine in the foreground must be abandoned...I'll have it!
16" bayos. So much for my theory that they phased those out after Guadalcanal.
Hi Jim, could the second Marine have a Johnson LMG? I can't see a magazine on the left but the profile looks like it could be a Johnson. Just thought I would throw that out and see what you think.....Frank
Hi Frank, the Johnson only took a short spike type bayonet so this can't be it. I would love to see a capture of a Raider or para carrying one of those...I think this has to be a shotgun.
Jim, maybe Mark or Snafu could find a pic of a Johnson LMG for us to compare.
Have a great day.....Frank
