ZF-41 scope?

Similar subject............ Does anyone shoot with one occasionally or even use one in competitions? What are they like to use?
I stripped, cleaned and assembled a really and truly gunged-up one a year+ ago plus made up the tommy bars for zeroing/adjustment. It came in handy later because my friend bought a repro that was pretty well mechanically identical to my original. He was finding it impossible to zero the eccentric OG lenses (as I recall.....) and discovered that while the original had a tabbed brass shim washer that allowed the lenses to remain fixed while being locked up, the repro didn't and was almost impossible to zero - because whyen you tightened up the ring, it moved the lens.
Made a brass tabbed washer and it worked a treat.
It wasn't quite collimated for height but we bodged out way around it!

Like that thingy? Unfinished, obviously. (Have an original scope, but that bit was missing, so commenced to drilling reaming and filing.)

When i first saw this I didn't know what it was or how to use it. we looked at it like a regular scope and it was like looking through a binocular in reverse sort of. Now that I've seen a picture of one on a Mauser I am looking forward to looking through it the right way.

That's the little bugger JM........ got it in one! After I made and inserted that, it stayed perfectly zeroed

These are the commonest type of German scope (not that any are common) . Nowadays we would probably call it a DMR rather than a 'sniper' equipment.

This was the badest type of scope the German snipers had to deal with. Many said it was better to shoot without that scrapy thing than using it.It was declassified in 1939 for its limited capabilities and the only 1.5 power. The original thought was to give it to the best shooter of the group as a assistance to aim a bit better. It was not meant as a sniper scope. The Waffenamt wanted to have 400.000 of them but for limited production possibilities of the optical industry, they made only 90.000 til May 1943. But a great item for a collection!
