Both are non-corrosive Boxer ammo, and both known for exceptional accuracy. You have .30-06 (1961 Match) and 7.62x51 Nato (.308). What else would you like to know?
Just read on another forum the 308 special was a sniper round. So my question is, What makes it any better or worse than the match round. Or are they some what the same except the caliber. I know that one is a match round so what is the other not match? or just special
Canadian snipers used LC match for their issue ammo during the time of the C3 rifle with 6X Kahles optics. I think it's just terminology. The ammo's definitely better than ball.
M118 special ball (brown box) is a down graded version of M118 Match (white box). the accuracy of M118 Match began to fall off during the '70's so in the early '80's LCAAP developed a new 7.62mm match round to replace it which became known as XM852 Match resulting in the M118 being down graded in the mid '80's.
That sort of goes with what we were told about the LC match ammo, the lot numbers we were given were the rejects from the US.
