1943 Mosin Nagant M91/30
Guys,
Here are some photos of my Mosin that I picked up...

This critter came with the sling, bayo (non match) and ammo pouches. However, what excited me... was the "last ditch" feel to it!:madsmile: This rifle is dated 1943r. With SN:PE164. It is actually all matched!:thup:

It actually looks like it has a "seam" running through the center of the receiver. :bow: While it really isn't... it has a certain appeal to the quick manufacture of this rifle....
I noted that the stock looks like it is a 2 pc:

There are many cartouches all over the wood and metal...

The wood certainly won't rust..... with all the shellac applied to it!:lol:

Nice 1943 Izhevsk M91/30! :thup:
The Soviets made the stocks in two pieces so that smaller stock blanks could be used. When you take the butt plate off you will be able to see the dovetail for the heel piece.
Also when you take it apart check the receiver tang for it's date of manufacture.
How's the bore?

The bore is there, LOL! :o
Looking down from the breech, it appears to be dirty with a nice deep spiral. If anything, it MAY be lightly pitted, which would not be a surprise. Perhaps later today I will clean the bore. :p
The bayo snapped into place... and appears to be hard to remove now. I confess that I need to strip it down for a nice cleaning and photos. I will see how my time progresses!
There was a second rifle on the shelf at the store. This one had slightly more crude machine work, so this one came home!
This one does have some peeling finish. While the marks on the wood are nice and deep, it clearly has been sanded (with a belt sander) already once... care will be there in the future! I hesitate on refinishing, since it looks nice overall!:thup:

Nice rifle. 1943 wasn't a year known for fit and finish. The Russians had other things on their minds, like turning out rifles as fast as possible to defend themselves against the Germans.
The Germans were the same way at the end of the war. Some of their products look even worse than these!
Anyway, looks like a nice representative refurb example. You can tell its refurb status by the stamp on the buttstock that looks like a box with a diagonal line through it. Should be a really good shooter!
