I have a Ross Rifle made by the Ross Rifle Co., in Quebec. It's in excellent condition, without rust. It has a bayonet lug and the strap my be original. The gun was given to me twenty years ago by an elderly cousin. The gun had belonged to her father. I am looking for potential buyers. For what it's worth, the gun is registered. I hear the gov't is scrapping the gun registration. Dave in Halifax

Problem is that there were at least three different models of the Ross Rifle made for the military. The ones most commonly seen in Canada are the Model 1905, marked as such on the left-hand receiver rail. The Model 1910 was marked as such on the top of the chamber: M-10 PATENTS.
There can be GREAT variations in value, although none of them are common in uncut condition. Cash value for an uncut Ross ranges from high 3 figures to low 4 figures, with a few much higher. We can give you a better estimate if we can see exactly what it is.
A photo or two would REALLY help a lot.
Right now, registration just makes it a bit more trouble to dispose of legally. Hopefully, it will be gone soon..... and then all the ones hiding in the woodwork can come out again..... and there are a LOT of them out there.
BTW, Very Nice Gift from your cousin and her father. :D:D:D:D As a famly piece, I think I would be hanging onto something like this.

To be sure, as SMELLIE said, pictures are worth a thousand words when trying to identify a rifle.
Also, markings tell a story. The Model, Serial number and Unit numbers could be stamped on the right side of the butt stock. A good clear picture of this area is almost a must when trying to identify an original Ross Military rifle.

Dave: I concur with buffdog and smelie. As well, please remember that Ross made several civilian hunting versons of both their M-1905 and M-1910 rifles. They have full military length 28"( I think) barrels, some have military fitting, but with sporter stocks. Some of those can be highly valuable. Point being: Just because it looks "circumcised" doesn't necessarily mean it's not valuable. Pics are a big help! ;-)
