Zeiss mauser? scope

Hi all - I'd really appreciate the thoughts of the experts here on my new Karl Zeiss scope. Pictures speak better than words, and as I really know nothing about it...

it came with those huge rings attached - not sure if they're original or not. No other markings than those shown. Not seen one with that kind of 'rail' underneath - is that normal?
I don't know what type of scope it is or when it might have been manufactured.

The dovetail on the bottom of the scope is for SEM (Suhler EinhakMontage, a claw mount from Suhl). This type of mount was usually soldered to the scope but to make it adjustable they made this rail.

Thanks for that Promo - any more takers? Having had a bit of a hunt round it seems to me that it may well be a post war Zeiss scope - would I be correct in thinking it is a zf39?

For its serial number it is from the early years of the war. Zeiss dated the serial# 75.000 - 78.000 as made between 1940 to 1945. The mountings are looking like selfmade ones but for the reason that they had so much different mountings made by many contractors it could be original too, but i´m not so sure.

Thanks for that Ulrich. I'm aware that there is some fakery going on around these scopes as obviously war ones are worth a lot more. In this case I can rule it out as I bought it on Saturday from the local gun shop and he basically was giving it away at £50 - which I thought was a good price for a Zeiss scope whatever the provenance.
So the number seems to relate to wartime production - what do people make of the rail which doesn't seem to have been fitted to wartime scopes?
