17 enfield attic find
Several (20+) years ago I got a call from one of my buddies. It seems that his wife, an antique dealer ,was handling the estate sale of an elderly gentleman that had recently passed away. In his attic was a crate containing four Eddystone P17 rifles still in cosmoline. The guns appeared to be unissued. We gave a couple hundred to the family for the crate, cleaned up the rifles, sold 2 and kept one each. Had one hell of a time getting the 70 year old dried grease off of the rifles, but mine cleaned up really well and looks new.
The old guy had been a WW1 vet. Don't know exactly how or from where he got the rifles, but I was glad to get mine. Shot her a few times, dead on accurate.
Found the correct Bayonet and repro leather sling at a gun show. It dwells in the farthest reaches of my safe.
Something for my kid to sell when I croak........

Without pictures, it didn't happen.;)

Alas, they don't make attics like that any more!

They sure don't Patrick! They still do every so often though. There was supposed to have been a Maxim found not too long ago in a WWI vet's attic, but it was destroyed.
baccerman - Very cool find! A picture would probably help us generate a thousand words. Can you post some photos please?
