Blonde cmp stocks, what gives?

Can anyone tell me why CMP would (no pun intended) put a new stock on an other wise perfect 5.8 mil Garand?https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...3/M1s092-1.jpg I't's just puzzled me.
1.they were damaged (what could damage them and not affect the metal parts is beyond me. 2. for some reason these 99% new rifles had WWII stocks switched on them at the armory in Greece and CMP changed them for many reasons. $$$$ to name one. 3.or they gave me a special at a service grade price. the metal looks brand new but not re-parked. If anyone from CMP could explain (as I know they are on this site) that would be great. Just know I'm not complaining they are very nice looking but do have the mitchels mauser look wouldn't you say?

Who knows, they may have received them with no wood on them

Orest, the COO, of the CMP, explained, just a day or two ago, that as they sort through the M1 parts/pieces/rifles, they will come across M1 barreled receivers and trigger groups that have horrible stocks on them, dinged up, chipped, etc.

They put them in a new/newer stock.

I have been working on Military rifle stocks for a few decades and many things can happen. One of the biggest is dry cracks. Those rifles look as if they were refinished so there was probably damage to the rifles at one time. Rick B

On one visit to the CMP warehouse to do research, we saw perhaps a hundred boxes labeled "Bad Stocks" stacked to the ceiling. In addition, you find guns with no stock in the returned crates.
