Dagger blade
I have obtained an Eickhorn officers dagger with a what looks like a chrome blade. I suppose it could be bright nickel though. The finish is good except for some surface stains mid blade on both sides. I guessing this is where it was handled by the blade and not wiped off after. Is there a polish or way to remove this without damage or changing the finish from the rest of the blade? I have used 0000 steel wool on bayonet blades but I don't want to do any damage. Done learned a lesson or two the hard way and I for sure don't want to harm this piece. It has the hangers and portepee intact. Also it seems I have seen sites speak of 4 types of these Eickhorn daggers but none have gone into detail about how to tell the difference. I don't expect someone to go to a lot of trouble but if anyone can offer a quick rundown on them I would greatly appreciate it.

I should have specified it's an officer's dagger. Not an SA or other.

Chrome or nickel wouldn't be stained. Probably just a bright polished blade as most were. Some dress bayonets were plated though.

I'll try to put some pics in. The stains remind me of hairspray on a mirror. Boy I sure hope no one tells me this is a fake.

It almost looks like it was heated. That could be if it was bent...
