Webley MK VI rear sight

I'm looking for a Webley MK VI revolver. What I noticed - on the German market, there are many with with sliding rear sight. I can't find any Information about this.
Is this adjustable rear sight genuine or was it modified later?

If you see a Webley with an adjustable rear sight it is probably either a Webley-Green target model, or a non-military alteration of a standard Mk VI. If you want to use if for competition shooting, check the competition rules very closely before you buy the revolver!

So if I have understood correctly - a MKVI with adjustable Sights was never in military use?

No, not a military configuration.

Perhaps even a P-H modification?

I have three Enfields, a couple of Webleys in .38 and a Mark VI .455, all in original military trim.

None have adjustable sights, of course, BUT.......

On one of the Enfields, there is an AUXILIARY rear sight, made from thin sheet-metal. It is a simple piece of bent steel which wraps most of the way around the top-strap, just forward of the locking-stirrup. From this piece, the rear end is bent to stand up and notched with a proper U-notch. When in place, this auxiliary sight makes the revolver shoot LOW. It would be good for shootng the commercial 146-grain load in a military gun which is set up for the 178 of the .380 Mark II Ball round.

Something such as this is quick, simple and easy to make..... and it gives you the sight-picture you need without altering an original gun.

Could be good for target shooting or (where allowed) for competition use.

Finally - i got one! I have to take it completely apart and degrease - a lot of old, sticky thick
grease is coming out of everywhere.
When clean, i will make some "real" photos.
After that - make some ammo (i got 150pc new Fiocchi Brass) , perhaps i will try to find (buy) a unmodified Barrel Catch.

Barrel is shiny - so i hope for some good holes on paper.
