In one of my luckier days I managed to aquire an absolutely beautiful M1 Garand from a retiring USMC Colonel who was involved in weapons development at Quantico.
It is a Winchester in the 2,000,000 range with an LMR barrel and everything on it is NM marked and it's easy to feel that the trigger has been tuned to perfection. It has a muzzle of .5 and a throat of 2.
I am puzzled if this was produced this way or assembled by the armorers at Quantico.
Any ideas about this???
Probably assembled that way by the armorers at Quantico. Winchester didn't make it that way.

It's going to take me a while to get pictures.

Great rifle that anyone, especially a former Marine, would be proud to own. I believe you will find that the rifle was built by Marine Corps match armorers. As Bill stated, it never left WRA like that nor was it built at Springfield as a NM rifle.
Well, I have to agree with you. The more I realize how precise the work was on this , the more I realize it MUST have ben a product of the Quantico Armory.
The gentleman I aquired this from was a fanatic on quality and precision.
I think this was just one of many he has. Including a mint Johnson that he offered to let me shoot when I come dowm to Quantico next.
I would be scared to dot that as it's too much awe and reverence for me.
But I'll get over it.
