I think the rules have let up some

Have the rules let up some on eBay? I'm seeing a lot of "prohibited" items on there these days. Barrels, hammers, bolts, complete trigger groups, magazines, slides, op-rods, etc. And the sellers aren't even trying to hide what they are. Next we'll see rifles and handguns and machine guns??? :confused:

I was selling two M1 carbine firing pins and calling the just "parts" and got them pulled and a harsh warning. They even gave me a bad overall rating that lasted 6 months because of it. I've got well over 500 feedbacks and ALL of them are positive, so a true 100% positive rating but had a bad overall because of two firing pins. :banghead: Ebay sucks!

eBay = screw-ball management practices that will modify with the downturn in the economy. Money is as important to eBay as to any other enterprise. methinks.

Ive noticed many prohibibited items myself. Complete bolts, barrels, ect

I just listed a couple of FN C1A1 butt stocks and they pulled them within 20 minutes, but the L1A1 Butt stock I listed is still up there. Very random. And a poor explanation as to why they were pulled.

I think those items just slipped by the ebay police.

I feel most of the time parts are pulled because someone (another ebay user) reports the part to ebay. Ebay relies heavily on reported items. The average ebay cop has to check such a huge range of other 'prohibited' items by searching for keywords, etc, they can't often know or discover what gun parts are part of the firing mechanism or not by just looking at a photo - especially enough knowledge of a part to give you such a heavy penalty.

In your instance it really does sound to me like someone most likely reported you, Bill, and told them it was part of the firing mechanism and you were trying to hide it was with a vague description. The average ebay cop wouldn't know the difference between a photo of a firing pin and a photo of a Willys camshaft.

I think Harlan may be on to something there. Them pulling an auction IS completely random. I for one like to see people get over on eBay!

Word on the streets is eBay has back pedaled on their selling of gun parts policy. Hum???

Fleabay lost 2 million dollars in sales the year they cut the gunparts...then lost even more when they changed the feedback policy..and even more when the upped to commision rates..
after while you keep loosing,..you have to turn around a few things...or you loose out completely.
so yes, they changed the rules back they way they were, as long as you dont offer over seas shipping.
