Enfield No2Mk1 Mk Bore Condition

Hello all! I’m glad to be a part of this forum with so many experienced folks. I’m new here and I’m new to British service revolvers. I’ve got a chance to buy a 1933 Enfield No2Mk1 that is not modified for double action or to accept .38 special. It looks pretty good cosmetically, but I’m just hung up on the condition of the barrel. The rifling appears shiny and without major defects, but to me it doesn’t seem sharp or deep. Just how much rifling should be present? I’ve tried sticking a Prvi Partizan .38S&W in the muzzle and I see less than a millimeter of lead between the crown of the barrel and the top of the brass case. I’ve also attached pictures. savage x7, your Enfield revolver barrel is just fine. The rifling is plenty good. It should shoot just fine. The available .38 S&W 145 grain load is a soft lead bullet and will upset enough to grab the rifling.

I agree with Barbarossa. I have dealt with many, many hundreds of these little pistols and just so long as the pistol groups is all that matters. The barrel on a revolver is just a bullet guide................. There's much more to it than that of course but so long as it groups, that's all you need

Gents, thank you for your responses! I recently purchased it and some more ammo. Shooting off-hand, it gets 5.5" groups at 40 yards.

she looks fine to me , and at 40yds i think thats respectable group ,

my no2 mkI* is also a 1933 , wears the checked wood grip scales , yours should as well , they were 1927-1934 vintage ,
