Martini Metford Carbine

Picked up my last Afghan rifle before coming home. It's a Martini Metford .303 made at the Jangalak Factory in Kabul in 1894. Vern, if you're out there, i think this rifle puts to rest the question of dating; since Metford rifling was used for such a short time, i think i can safely say that this rifle was, indeed, made in 1894, not in the 1920s- if using the Persian calendar.

I will also now reiterate to those who think these Kabul made rifles are all "Kyhber Pass rifles", that this rifle made in 1894 has Metford rifling- technology only used on the 303 for 6 years prior and only for a short time after- very modern machinery used to produce these rifles in Afghanistan. This is the first Metford that I, personally have seen here- mostly the carbines are Martini-Enfield type.
