Hello,
Well I did it again, just bought another milsurp....It's a disease I telll ya! Anyway, It's a 1916 Spanish Mauser in 7x57 mm Mauser. Of course I plan to reload for it. I was wondering if anybody has had good experiences reloading that caliber/ rifle. what weight of projectile to consider, powder etc.

The following information is provided TOTALLY WITHOUT ANY GUARANTEE OR LIABILITY WHATSOEVER !!!!
According to the "Visier Spezial" on shooting old service rifles:
Sierra 140 gn Spitzer, Remington case, CCI 200 primer, 41 gns of Vihtavuori N140, OAL 78 mm. 5-shot group size 35 mm at 100 meters.
A friend uses a similar load with great success. The reloading manuals provide plenty of examples, and it is, in the end YOUR reponsibility. The 7x57 is very easy to handle - just shut your ears to anyone who talks about "hot loads" and remember you are shooting an old banger, not a modern varmint rifle.
Best performance is probably with the bullet seated to be about 0.5mm /20 thou off the lands, if the cartridge case and bullet length will permit this. So establish the maximum possible seating depth for your rifle before reloading anything!
Good luck, and go carefully!
