The one on the left is a demonstration lock and the one on the right is a practice lock. ( one that can be taken apart and reassembled for training, rather than putting wear on the one used in service) Bronze plated for ID as an aid.
.........

The copper plated lock will have come from a DP (Drill Purpose) gun. Usually assembled fromn downgraded components

Quiz? Life is a quiz. My quiz would be how many hands have assembled it and how well did they learn?

The gun crews would certainly be able to do it by touch alone, in the dark. You realise of course that the backplate bolt with the T handle is the stripping tool to squeeze the split lever locking pin together in order to remove it? A masterpiece of how to complicate things but since the gun lasted from 1912 to 1968 in Britain, you can't really say anything to its detriment. It's the one gun that still winds my clock up whenever I shoot it. Lovely picture........., where is it?

California Costal HWY.1 just South of Big Sur about an hour and 20 min. driving time at 45 MPH. Note the dome on the sea cave in the foreground is collapsing in the first picture.
