P14 Mark on Action
I'm very new to the Pattern rifles and know next to nothing about them. I recently bought a sporterized P14 which is in very good condition mechanicly. The bore and rifling are crisp and no pitting is visible.
My question is, on the action over the bolt head, there is a stamped circle with a large CE in this circle. Can anyone tell me what this stamp indicates?
I've tried googling this, but there doesn't seem to be a site that can help me out.
Thank you in advance.

Is the "C" smaller than the "E"? My first thought was that it is the "RE" stamp for remmington that was either weakly stamped or buffed out when the rifle was sporterized.

Thank you for replying jamie5070. The "C" is clear and as large as the "E". Am I wrong in assuming it's a stamp for where it was built?

My sincerest apologies to all. The stamp is not what I said it was. I was going to take a picture, had a very close look, and saw it better.
Now, it's off to the optometrist for a better pair of glasses. (and scopes on everything)
