Newly acquired 1944 Long Branch No4 Mk1*.
-
It's a Long Branch - what's not to like? Is the wood LB-marked?
-
I have a 1944 long Branch ,5 grooves barrel, mint condition. We have twin rifles..Mine is number 5 enfield for me and others will follow.
-
Spinecracker, the stock is indeed marked LB, Bow, I agree, one Enfield is NEVER enough. This makes my 15th Lee Enfield..I absolutely love them. The history that each one reveals is worth every penny I put into them. Thanks for looking!

As a matter o' fact, this rifle appears to be as original as they come, all matching, no import marks, all Canadian parts, '44 dated barrel..I do wonder, however, what the H26 beneath the serial number on the butt socket means. And the barrel is marked 'H'. Heavy barrel?

Does it have a 2 groove barrel ?
-
Simon, yes, it is a 2 groover.
-
I love the LBs & my 1944 2 groove looks a bit of a dog but shoots excellent even out to 1000M.
-
That's good to hear! I'm taking mine to the range next weekend, looking forward to seeing how she does.

BTW, I had to look up what the UCF on the mag follower stood for, and the general consensus is 'Upper Canada Force'..odd name for a manufacturer. Or is it a manufacturer?

All very interesting, but can you tell me how to get the crick out of my neck now?
