Hooked on Enfields
You know how it is. You get an Enfield, then another and before you know it you're addicted.
I didn't think it would happen to me. Nobody ever does. Thought I could quit at one. Didn't realize how bad I'd gotten until yesterday when a stranger approached me at a gun show with a 1942 Long Branch No4 Mk1*. I think he spotted my eyes opening wide at the sight of it. I must have looked like meth addict seeing his next fix. And when he handed it to me...... well, here are some pictures of my latest fix.
I really should buy a book and read up on these... I am just afraid it will make my condition worse.
:D

Top shelf Enfield crack you scored there. Is there a twelve step program for this addiction? I cannot even pass up the "sporteized" stepchildren.

Oh,, you got it bad.
I'll bet the action is still smooth as an okra sandwich. Just needs some wood and a little TLC.

What's wrong with the wood? You can repair the Ishapore wood screw in the forend. It's all here in Laidler's articles.

Hi Vincent ... :)
You might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches our site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words ishapore screw and see what happens .. ;)
I only had a quick look, so I'm not sure what the exact content is about, however, here's just a few threads which turned up turned up.

I think Vincent might be talking about my sporters "woodlessness", a situation which I am saving up to replace. I hope Brian still has the wood when I get my funds.

While looking at this thread you get ads for rehab centres. How many ticks do you get onthe Enfield addicts checklist? i've seen it kicking around the net somwhere.
At a show earlier this year I picked out of a box of bolts a real nice LB no4 Mk 1 bolt as well as a Lee Metford bolt also in real nice nick. the seeds are sown......
Nice Find. so far I havent had to sell a Enfield, the comedown would be bad!

I bought my first Enfield in December of last year. I'm now at one No. 1 Mk III* (British), one No. 1 Mk III (Australian), one No. 4 Mk I (South African), one 2A (Indian), one P14, and one 1917. I'd have another No. 1 Mk III (Irish) on the way if my truck hadn't needed a new alternator ($512). Still need a Canadian and hopefully the Irish one will still be available when I get the money up.

I was collecting 'Battle Rifles of the Twentieth Century'. K98, AR, AK, SKS ......... 22 Enfields! Still looking for a P14 A Paki No4 etc., etc.

Please P14's and 17's don't count I couldn't stand the thought of all those other rifles out there I haven't got.
