I just got ser 1325873 it has a RIA 5-11 barrel and a bolt with 3 stamped on top R on bottom. Was just wondering about its history. The only stamps on stock are on bottom. Thank You TMB

The receiver is a high number Springfield made in 1929, with a 1911 Rock Island Armory barrel. The bolt is a WW2 Remington. Are there any cartouches' on the left side of the stock just to the rear of the receiver? If the headspace checks out and the bore and crown are OK, It should make a dandy shooter.
There are'nt any cartouches on the stock just stamps on bottom infront of and back of trigger gaurd. I know the stamps on top of barrel are date what are the bottom ones. Thanks TMBQuote:

My guess is that it WAS a 1911 era RIA low-number springfield that got a new SA receiver in a rebuild program, then maybe got a bit more work done on it in WW2. Nice looking rifle.

Looks OK to me. You have a Remington (?) WWII refinished bolt. Likely went through a major rebuild after WWII. Nice WWII keeper.
Thanks its the first 03 I've had that was'nt in a sporter stock. I was wishing it was wwii. TMB
The stock is either a Remington or Smith Corona 1903A3 stock. If there is a diamond stmp in that group in front of the trigger housing, it is a Smith, if not it's Remington.
The stamps infront are a circle with 1 in it and 7chipped wood 2 infront of screw so must be Remington.Thank You TMB
