Hi , i recently bought an M1917, lend lease to UK.
What's menas P.W.O.R. on the stock ?

It's a Canadian marking, please also notice right of this the C with the broad arrow in it.

so it was PWOS 's 285 regiment ?

No, it was rifle number 285 in the PWOR.

I suspect this rifle was issued here in Canada for training before overseas in WW2, or after the war it was still in stores in their armory. The 288 could be anything...rack number for instance.
