This picture shows a Plunger I pulled from a Stan Pro bolt, which is the only size stem I recall ever seeing.
While getting ready to put the bolt back together on a WRA 30K+ I realized that the Plunger has a long stem.
Very first I've ever seen.

It's also the first one I've seen. I've got several and have looked through lots of carbine parts at gun shows - it's a new one to me. If it's in the books, I've forgotten or didn't pay enough attention! - Bob

I didn't want to sorta double post..... But thought this would get lost in my other thread.
I'm sure glad I pictured the parts as they came off that WRA.
You can see it here with the other Bolt parts.
At the time I didn't want to pull it off the spring.
I didn't notice even while cleaning the parts, until I started to put it back together.
I've looked thru my extras, nothing like it. :confused:
I do have to say it made it a lot easier to put on the spring and it stayed in place!

What is Stan Pro?
I have a contract of these in 1966 and they are the normal type 2 as shown on top.
The type 1 had no flat surface.
I wonder if this was an improvised item by a unit. I never saw it.

The shorter stemmed plunger I had in a zip lock that's a taken apart Standard Products bolt and it's internals.

I don't think I have ever seen a long stem plunger before either. There is just so much about these little gems yet to learn. When cleaned up really good, does it appear home made?
Doesn't look home made, but many of the old parts could appear that way.
It was stuck tight to the spring.
Hoppes #9 freed it up.
Measured the diameter of the fat part with the calipers, locked it down, then measured the one from the Stan Pro bolt, Exact fit.
On the long stem I can make out a small nimple on the very end of the stem, but very hard to get a picture of.
It is now back in the original bolt and will keep it there.

is the pyramid have the modified side? if it does is first I have ever seen-I have never seen that on a long stem, have seen short stem pyramid no cut but not what yours looks to be

Per NL #336, in reference to the earlier conical plunger "The shanks are longer than the later type 2 extractor plungers. Some data sheets reported a transitional type with long shank and half cone tip." A photo is shown of the "transitional" half cone tip with the long shank. It appears identical to yours.
These are the only pictures I took of it.
I'm guessing now that it must be a Type I converted to a Type II, or some kind of transitional.
Should I try to get better pictures of it?
I'd have to take it apart again, but no trouble.
Either way it is staying!
BTW, Originally the seller thought it was a Type I, but later was able to see the cut away knotch.
