I picked up this tool and was told it is meant for the US M1 Carbine. After searching the web, I found nothing that would help identify it as being a carbine tool. Does anyone here recognize it? Thanks a lot!

Without actually have it here, I can't judge the size. It looks to be for a .50 cal MG or maybe the Inglis 303 MG. It fit's on like a side plate trigger but beyond that...

It looks like part of a solinoid for firing the gun. The means of depressing the finger to move the sear slide in the gun's bolt is missing. It would be attatched to the piece with the hole in it. If it's 5 inches long, it must be for the .50 cal. It's possible the electric solinoid was pilfered at one time.

Thanks Peter. I've seen what I believe to be all the mechanical firing devices for .50 cal. That's why I thought maybe Inglis 303. I thought you may have had a couple of these in a drawer somewhere.
