Was the meaning of the letters on the sight covers on the Lend-Lease rifles ever discovered. They may be on other earlier rifles, but the L-L rifles are the only ones I have seen them on.

Also the SA "flat cover" without the drawing number will have a number/letter or symbol,while the Winchester "flat cover" or cover without the indents will not have a markings. An orginal Winchester flat cover should have the DuLite finish too (can not post photo out of space?)
I havn't heard anything new since what was written by Tony Puci and Tony Giacobbe in the 1993 GCA journals. At that time Tony Pucci stated that "these markings appeared on both British proofed and non-British proofed rifles". I have 422881 which is not British proofed and has no mark. I also have 511125, also non British proofed, but does have the mark on the sight cover.
