PW marked disc.
A friend of mine has a 1916 LSA with a buttstock disc marked simply 'PW'. Some research suggests Prince of Wales (which I kinda doubt) or Public Works battalion. Not a lot of certainty in either of these findings. Anyone have any insight into this marking?

If it just has "PW" and no other markings, then it is probably just someone's initials - i.e. a civilian owner or even military shooting club team member. Initials and names are quite common on rifles from the era when a club rifle rack might contain twenty or so identical service-pattern rifles...
