I got a M1917 Eddystone with my Lee Enfield No4 Mk1, and I was wondering of I should restore it back to its original military condition. It currently has a Bishop stock and a Tasco scope, and all the original sights and wood were removed. Should I restore it, and how much would it cost me?
Were the rear sight protector wings removed from it? If so it most likely is not worth spending the funds to restore it. But if they are intact then it is doable. A complete stock will run at least in the $300 range including the hand guards. Then there is a complete rear sight which will run about $50. Front sight complete about $25 or so. If you need the sling swivel and barrel bands then add aother $50 + to the cost. Now all of this will cost more if you need a smith to install any of these parts. If you do your looking at $500 to restore it unless you can find the parts cheaper then normal outlets and do the work yourself. I may be off on this some but I don't think a lot. So it will be up to you to decide if you want to chagne it back to where it was to start with or leave it as a shooter.

I think I can round up sights, bands, swivels and butt plate for $50, I'll have to look, can't guarantee markings. Let me know if it's going to be that simple, talk to Chuck, he can handle any drilled holes and re-finishing. As far as stock, depending on how correct you want to go, there is Boyds Replacement Stocks for US Enfield P-17 can't vouch for them, I've never used one of thier 1917 stocks. Or as stated earlier, you can go the original route, bout $300.00 and might take a little time and work coming up with a good one.
who you gonna find to attach the sight ears back on? for that matter were you gonna find the ears? 1917 and P14 arent the same.
you best and cheapest route..keep the rifle as a hunting rig, or sell it...then spend 600.00 and buy a nice 1917 in military trim.
Hmm, he hasn't said anything about the ears being gone,,, yet. I wouldn't even consider messing with it, if it were that far gone. Not that I would ever consider it,, but are they really different than a 14, other than markings, I thought the action itself was the same?
I figured if it were a simple resto, I'd give him a deal on the parts just for the sake of saving a good old rifle.

that tells me it was ground off, and drilled and tapped,
the P14 looks the same, but is a little different, it is a bit longer on the sight bridge, as well as the mag well.
as well as he hasnt responded back with some much as a thanks for the imput...says. we gave it more thought then he did, and moved on.
