trigger guard question
Someone offered me a Springfield M1 garand ,serial 2645XXX (dated '44).It has the trigger guard without the hole in it (see the picture ,type on the left). Can someone explain me more about those two types and is this OK for a 44 dated garand?
Thanks

Simple enough. The stamped style is for quicker production and the forged is earlier. Rifle no SA 3 Million has a stamped trigger guard and SA 2,720,806 has a forged. They changed somewhere in there. It had to happen for production time to decrease. SO, apparently yours should have a milled trigger guard. But, that being said, I'll bet the whole thing is a mix of new and old rebuilds.
