New member, some pics of my garand....looking for any info on it, has NM barrel and op rod, bedded, anyone have info?

grif looks like its a shooter ,does it have NM sights?

I don't believe anyone has found a way to duplicate that aged finish, looks nice to me.

No it does not, that's what makes it odd, it has been in my family since about 67 or 68, no cartouches either....

It was owned and used by my father in the late sixties at Camp Perry.....

Can someone help out with an SRS look up on this? And I was wrong on the sights, rear is NM, don't know on the front, how can I tell?

NM is marked NM.

Looks to be a 1963 version of the Type 2 NM rifle, based on the SA 7731035 3 63 barrel. This 77 series barrel was first used on the final 1963 version of the NM rifle. Can't tell from the photos but the rear sight base should be marked NM/2A and I believe the windage knob should also be marked NM. The front sight should be marked on the side "NM over 062". Also the last four digits of the rifle serial number should be written in white in the barrel channel of the stock and also on the floorplate of the trigger housing but this is sometimes removed during cleaning over the years.
Contact CMP and see if they can verify it as a DCM sale. I think they charge $ 25.00 for this service.

Thanks JoeW, I did send a request to CMP, waiting to hear back from them, it appears that this rifle may have been an AMU built version, or updated by one of the many armorers at Camp Perry. It was purchased by my father from a good friend and fellow competitor at the matches, I don't know if his friend bougt it from the DCM earlier and had it updated, but the stock has no markings whatsoever, and the hand guard is screwed to the band, and it appears exactly as the photos i've seen of AMU rifles. It does not have any NM markings on the front sight, and only the rear sight aperature is marked NM, not the base or knob. Also I have read somewhere that AMU armorers polished the area of the barrel behind the op rod, and this rifle appears that way. Thanks to everyone for the valuable info....
