Missing markings

Hello
First post here so I hope I will not be bringing up old news that everyone has worked over. Anyway, I have an individual that wants to sell his "British 303" I aked for a bit more information and what markings were on the gun and the only marks he said he could see was the #42 stamped on the gun and a serial number on the bolt.
My question is....... what the heck why are there no other markings on the rifle? I have not seen it yet but he claims it to be in very good condition just old.

Enfields tend to be quite well marked (that is why they are so interesting) I would bet when you get a look it is well marked.
