Guns America has a listing for an Enfield re-barreled from .303 to 7.62X39 by Special Interest Arms. Does anyone have experience with them? Finding new barrels for Enfields seems to be daunting. If they have them in 7.62X39 can any in 7.62X51 be found?

As I read on this forum, new .303" barrels are in the process of being made. And if they can remanufacture in .303" then 7.62mm should be a doddle!
I would love to build a clone of the l42A1. I have an Ishapore in .308 but a new barrel in 308 would be great. I was just wondering if anyone had handled a rifle that has a barrel from Special Interest Arms. Importing barrels from another country is problematic at times. I've imported .22 cal.barrels from Canada with a permit, a .308 might be tougher.

I think the SIA 7.62 x 39 are a shorter barrel than a standard .303
There are hundreds of old heavy target barrels in 7.62, with enough meat on them to re thread for an Enfield, starter blocks for the clone you mention.
I have been in the owner's workshop (it is where I got the last few parts to restore my 1941 Long Branch - an awful, snowy day, but I walked out of there with a beautiful Long Branch magazine that perfectly matched the wear on my rifle for $30). He takes Lee Enfields that are cosmetically (not sure about structurally) toast, and converts them to different calibers and tricks them out a bit - each to their own. He does appear to put a lot of effort into the conversions, but I'd prefer to have a good Lee Enfield in the original military configuration.
