I recently picked this up from a friend of mine who was going to throw it out, so I paid him $20 for it and kept it from destruction. My question is, WHAT did I save? I asked my friend about it, and he said he didn't know, it was from his fathers WWII collection.

M1/M3 Carbine: late '44 Inland

We found one of these while cleaning out my fathers estate. It turned out to be a waterproof WWII US Signal Corp. backpack.
Sounds like they'd be used on beach landings? Any idea what they're worth?Quote:

I've found them on militaria webstores with an asking price of about $400. I tossed mine onto eBay and ended up making about $20. I suppose it's all about timing when it comes to such items. Oddly enough, I had to list it 3 times before it even sold. :)

Oh I know it! I was all kinds of excited when I saw that $400. With it getting closer to the holidays, someone out there may be willing to pay a little more though so it may be worth a try. :)
Good afternoon....Also, it is used in Army field ambulances to carry supplies for the comany aidmen. We carried the larger bandages, extra IV sets, wire splints, etc....For the accountabiliity issue, they were on the "hand reciept" and considered "inspectable" for inventory purposes (1 per ambulance). If you restore an old ambulance, it's a must-have.
