Can anyone verify 1903a1unertl rifle serial numbers? Sorry for previous mistake by leaving out the words serial number. Do they go by if the number is in a block of numbers or can they be alone? Not familiar with using this forum.

With great difficulty. If you wanted verification with absolute certainty IMO about the only way it could be done is with a USMC sales document for a surplus arm. In theory MOST of the USMC snipers were a subset of USMC match rifles or special target rifles. If a list of these could be found you might be able to say "well this was a match rifle so it might have been made into a sniper". The problem comes in when according to some sources additional snipers were built from scratch (to match standards).
As far as I know no one ever made a list of the original snipers. Considerinf how much documentation exists onthe USMC sniper program it seems hard to believe but 60 years ago maybe no one thought it was important.
Post pictures of the rifle. There are some criterias the rifle would need to fullfill to at least be technically correct for an USMC sniper. I'm pretty sure John Beard can help you :)
