I picked up a few boxes of 30-06 for my garand this weekend. Curious if you could tell me if they're safe to shoot!

Bottom row: Paid $10 a box, head stamps say "PS" "74"
Middle row: paid $20 a box, head stamps say "LC" "57"
Top row green box: paid $15, head stamps say "rem-umc" "30-06"
Top brown: paid $30, box of 10 garand grenade launching cartridges
M1/M3 Carbine: late '44 Inland
M1 Garand: late '44 Springfield
All but the Remington UMC is safe to shoot in your Garand and the PS and LC are non corrsive. The blanks would depend on the date on them as to they are non corrosive or not.
ALSO, About the Blanks... "Be sure they are Blanks" NOT Grenade launching Ammo, they Look very similar and I dont have any to compare, but if you fire a grenade launching round in your rifle with a blank firing adapter mounted on it, "things might go bad for you and your rifle" The grenade Launching rounds are so similar in appearence, that many a good VFW Garand, went Garand Heaven after continued use with that ammo. Just try to read up on the Number of crimps, or something, that will help you identify the difference. "On the inside, the grenade launching ammo has more powder" thats what makes it real ruff on a garand. It may not hurt it at first, but is sure to with continued use.
I just remember reading about it somewhere, and thought I would pass that on. Especially if you intend to use a blank firing adapter.
I think you misread, they are in fact grenade launching cartridges, lol. I would never use them, especially since they're still in factory seal, but they make an awesome display with my launcher and grenade.Quote:

The Gernade cartridges are uncommon. Do not open that original box! Hang on to them and nice find.
