1917 Winchester 30-06
Hi, I am a new Member and am looking to Restore My Grandfathers 1917 Winchester 30-06, he brought it back from the war, and it was in many pieces. Over the years and the moves from home to home most of the pieces have been lost. So this is what I have.
the Barrel in tack with bolt, sites and trigger with sear. that's it, So who would be able to point me in the right direction to purchase the parts I need to restore this?
I look at this as a great project for me and this would look really nice next to his Flag!
Thanks for your time.

You can use this as a parts list to get you started. Ebay is a very good source of vintage military gun parts. Numrich has some parts and you can check Gunbroker too. U.S. Rifle M1917 Markings
Any time you are looking for old parts like this you just have to put in some time on a search engine and don't give up.

The good news is you have the important parts! If you want to keep it all original, look for a small 'W' stamped on any replacement parts. Almost all parts of the M1917 rifles were marked with the manufacturer's code - either 'W', 'R', or 'E'. - even the wooden stock!
Good luck with the search, and keep us updated with pics if possible.
