Could This Be Real?

A Type 3 (Riesch) safety with checkered ends? Everything about this piece smells old and real to me but the books say it ain't so. Could this be a salvage of a rejected earlier production Type 1 safety? Or do I not see the dead giveaway that it's fake?

Yup I think it's a rare original Riverside type safety. They do turn up once in awhile.

Ain't no way! *LOL* One of the worst fakes I've ever seen!

I've had this one (left) stuck back for about thirty years just in case, and it sure doesn't look like the one shown on eBay.

So much for the ratings system.

Perhaps the seller believes it's real. People are fallible, but it's true one should do research before making a 'genuine' claim on obscure/rare parts.

It sure looked old to me. But I guess Wu dropped a Type 3 blank in the wrong bin, huh, and it was a dark day in Shanghi. LOL
