Swedish Mauser bedding?
In the meantime I would likre to thank your members for the information that I have picked up in relation to my Swedish Mauser M38 that I have in my collection. I bought this rifle some years ago in very good condition, with all matching numbers, now that I understand the code on the disc, I intend to set this rifle up for long range target shooting, any further information in relation to the bedding of the action to the stock would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Aus,
In the US, sanctioned military rifle mostly require that the rifles be as-issued, no stock modification. Perhaps it is different in OZ? My swedes, I would glass around the receiver ring and the first inch of barrel by the receiver, under the barrel band, and under the bayonet lug/front band. Plus I would put greased paper shims under the bands where they contacted the barrel. Others have good luck by just removing the bands from the stock and running it free-floating. Oh! And remember to tighten the receiver s crews real good. You'll know you are in the ballpark for bedding when all your shots touch at 50 meters.
Good luck!

Is your m38 a Husqvarna model? If so IMHO I would NOT do anything that would forever alter it. If you plan on shooting it L/R (in the US thats over 600 yards) I would think you'll need beter sights than the orignal "leaf" non windage adjustable one.
The FSR m96 rifles were setup for L/R shooting with adjustable rear sights and usually a globe type front sight. Perhaps you should look for one of them. I shot Palma Matches some years ago with a fellow that used a Swede m96 in a "plastic" stock. He shot well with it.
