Is there a difference bewteen a reciever with an "s" designation besides the obvious nods? I have a bolt that works fine in an older receiver, but not in the "s". It seems to get stuck 3/4 of the way through. Is the receiver defective? I'm kind of new to all of this.
Kanter, Coincidently I just dealt with what sounds like the same issue. I bought a receiver/triggergaurd set for Old West Scrounger. My bolt would not go all the way in. After some careful examination the I found the receiver to be slighty closed in the area of the split bridge. I think this was done during the barrel removal process. The receiver was pretty beat up--obviously not disassembled by a real gunsmith. I opened the bridge area up by prying on the left side (which is the weaker side) and was visibly closed. With the receiver clamped in a leather lined vise I used large square shanked screw driver to slowly open the bridge. It is trial and error so I had to work slowly and continually check to see if the bolt fit. The trick I found is to only pry on the side that is really bent. I stuck the screwdriver down in the slot where the sear pokes thru the receiver and used this as the leverage point. This all sounds a little crude but this part of the receiver takes none of the firing pressure. I can't swear that you are having the same exact problem but I have read where several other people had the same problem . Salt Flat

If you look closely at this picture closely you can see where the bridge has closed. The side that is bent in is adjacent to the bolt stop. Salt flat
Was your front receiver ring all beat up? Mine looked like it was hammered on.
Gosh, Centerfire Systems blew them out at $8.88 barreled receivers 3 years back? OWS is now parting them out? Brother! I have 5-6 upstarirs, no idea what to do with them. Most barrels are nice, too.
The bolt seems to hang up after the bridge, towards the front.
Kanterj, Might be a different problem-- here's a few things you could try:
1) Make sure your cocking piece is not hanging up on the tip of the rear trigger guard screw. Sometimes the screw is too long and gets in the way. (sounds basic but I have had this happen several times.)
2) Strip the bolt down to the bare bolt body and try it that way. This will rule out some of the potential interferences. Work the bolt a few times and look for some "rub" marks on the bolt body to see if you can pinpoint the interference.
3) Also check the bridge gap dimension. Mine measures .440 (after re-tweaking).

I think that the problem is due to warping? in the front chamber. It is not worth the hassle, but thanks to everyone for the help.
