.22 NO.2 Question
Have a Number 2 that has .22 LR , 1955 on the buttsocket, right side. no other numbers on reciever apart from serial number in normal place (all matching - U5XX) It has the BSA stacked rifles on the knox. All seems fine BUT i'm trying to figure WHY it would have "FTR 1954" on the left of the receiver??? ANy ideas?

Just off the top of my head, it may have been FTR'd as a No1 MkIII* in 1954 before being converted as a civilian miniature rifle club rfle in 1955 by BSA including scrubbing of the original marks.....
Lots of pictures would help, of course... I'm not up on BSA's involvement with No1 rifles post WW2, so please correct me if I'm wrong here.... just sounds like a club rifle.

Thanks Brad. Apppreciate the thoughts. Hey I'm thinking of taking the No.1 HT you helped me with out to a milsurp shoot at 800 yards in March. Will report back. Cheers - charlie
