I'm looking for a safe reload for 180 gr Spitzer bullet for the M! Garand. I normally use IMR 4895 for my Garrand loads. Usually with 150 gr FMJBT bullets.
Thanks, Fourbits

Load data on Hodgdon may may help. Recommend you stay with IMR 4895 unless someone knows a load that will not threaten the oprod. Steady diet of heavy loads may not be recommended, although i cannot see a 180 gr being much different than the 175 match bullets we all use in certain situations. A slow burning powder is generally not good as you should already understand.
If you just get the adjustable gas cylinder lock screw, you can skip all the drama...Sorry no one came to the rescue on this one, but we've had this discussion to death here. It's probably in a half dozen threads right in this forum...just search.

You mean this?
That's one. I couldn't get that into Canada. The one I use has several different screws that have progressively smaller holes drilled. You put the biggest in and try it, change to a smaller one and continue until the rifle functions. If you shoot all the same ammo, it'll function the same each time. And as we know, M1's are picky that they want one type of ammo to be max accurate.
IMR 4064 is a very good powder in the M1 rifle.
