bcd 4 long rail sniper
Does the fact that the receiver and bolt seem to have been somewhat polished and the barrel has it's original finish mean this may be a fake? The rest of the rifle seems correct from photos I have seen, it's only the receiver and bolt finish I am concerned about. I haven't seen one before with a different finish on the two pieces.

Especially with the late pieces, Germany mixed parkerized with blued finish. It could be that the "polished" parts are simply badly parkerized. Would need more pictures of that rifle.

Well, it could have been original. You'd need better closeup pictures to be able to tell whether they are polished, or just badly parkerized. Since the buttplate is already of the late type, a parkerized rifle is possible aswell. They mixed both blued and parkerized parts on rifles anyway.
Is it matching? If yes, what is the asking price for the rifle? Did you check the stock for a large C on the lower side of the butty. And are there any serials on the inside of the handguard/stock?

I had a bcd 4 with the thicker milled flat left side wall a few years back. I thought someone had milled and drilled it for a scope mount, I measured the checked in my book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht Volume II" and it checked out. It was never turned into a sniper as the pins were never added to complete the job.
They were produced but for some reason some were never used as sniper rifles.

I can't look at the rifle before I buy it, and I can't get anymore pictures, that's the big problem. The rifle looks so nice it's strange the reciever would be a different color.
