Sauer und Sohn 38H 7.65 cal pistol

My father came across a Sauer und Sohn 38H pistol. after doing some research we found out that it's a variation 4, wartime produced nonmilitary pistol. After tearing it down, cleaning, and inspection we found the extractor to be bent and the incorrect magazine. The extractor was straightened out and if the magazine is held in the fully seated position it will feed and fire correctly. the grips that came on the pistol were clacked and in pieces. I have ordered him some new manufactured grips, however I have not been able to find anyone that carries either new manufactured or vintage 8 round magazines in stock. I did find a 15 round extended magazine, but would like to stick with the 8 rounders.

They're just slow to update edits! Sometimes maddeningly so! But it seems that it's sorted itself.

Hopefully, your project will see a successful conclusion. The Sauers are nice pistols. Unfortunately, parts can be difficult to find at times. As for mags, a real one probably won't be cheap. US$50-75 as a guess, but haven't priced them lately. Triple K might have something new. Some of the other reproductions are so bad that what you have is probably better!

funny you should say that. i just ordered him a magazine from triple K. I hope it's all i thought it was.

My father got the new grips in the mail about a week or so ago. He said they fit extremely well. Haven't heard anything about the new magazine i ordered. They said it was back ordered, but i didn't think it would take this long.

Your mag looks like a CZ27 mag. Most of those were so marked on the bottom. I have saw some at gunshows that were not marked. I am not sure about those, maybe post-war. But they looked old. The CZ has a bottom lockup. Somebody filed the notch in your mag. It is still worth a few bucks as a shooter mag.
