The nett product of more than four decades of world-wide research and study, evolving through two prior editions and many other related titles. This is the ultimate account of a century’s development and issue of the Lee-Enfield series.
The Lee Enfield has proven itself as the finest battle rifle of all time. No other firearm has served for so long at home and abroad with such a proud record.
This study encompasses all aspects of Lee-Enfield development & production... Britain, America, India, Australasia, South Africa & the Far East. Rifles, carbines, bayonets, parts, tools, accessories & ammunition are arranged into specific groups & chapters.
There are five new chapters—
• Preview, Model Identification
• Lee-Enfield Hybrids
• Serial Number Production Ranges
• Component Parts Evolution
• An Ammunition Summary
The Pattern Room collection and library has been the primary source for samples and records. With the larger format, this presentation sets a new standard for collectors, students & shooters of the venerable Lee-Enfield... indeed, for all arms books.
While the 'Lee-Enfield Story' has long been accepted as the definitive tome on the Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield rifle series, this new volume increases the record from 504 to 608 pages and features improved photographic detail, larger illustrations and an improved layout. The best comparison is best made with the two editions side by side and checking page by page.
A special slip-cased Presentation Edition is also available, limited to 303 numbered and signed copies. These feature gold embossed leatherette covers and gilded page edges. This is our first ever slip-cased commemorative. No expense has been spared in the production of surely the finest book ever on the renowned Lee-Enfield family.
Hi from the sunny Gold Coast in Oz,
The 'Lee-Enfield Story' was out of print in 2005, so an updated, larger edition was produced, 'The Lee-Enfield'. This has a larger size format with colour plates, all photos were digitally re-mastered, there are 4 new chapters, etc. So I think you would need the new 2007 edition.
Enjoy the knowledge,
Ian
Have looked all over for a copy of this, to no avail. Any way to order one from here?
Great Book. An absolute must for any one interested in Enfield rifles. The information and pictures that it contains are invaluable.
In the US, Brian at BDL in South Carolina may carry it, though it is not listed on his website. i would still contact him as the website may be out of date. He carries many of Skennertons publications as well as those by Peter Laidler.
Here is the link. BDL LTD
If Brian can't help you, you probably an order direct from Ian in Australia. Here is the link to Ian's website. http://www.skennerton.com/rifles.html
I have dealt with both Gentlemen and I can highly recommend them. They both are a pleasure to deal with.

Also, here in Canada, try Don at Murray House Militaria murrayhouse@rogers.com
I purchased my (multiple) copies from him ..... :)
Mention our site and I believe he may still have the 5% discount for you, if you tell him you were directed to him from here ...
